Could you change the rating system so that people have to be members to make ratings? This will prevent people from coming in as guests and maliciously rating top-notch tabs '1' or '2'. Also, have it where if you give someone a low rating just to get your song (no matter how good, or bad) to the top of the 'highest rated' list, they'll have to justify giving a '1' or '2' to an obviously great tab if their member name is associated with it.

Thanx, Da Tickler.

You already do have to be a member in order to rate a tab, but can you explain more how you envision having to justify a 1 or 2 rating?

Also a previous forum post discussed some potential ways we can improve the "Highest Rated" page:

Just have somewhere the rater's website nickname is shown to the 'ratee' every time they make a rating. I have several tabs that are absolutely 100% (or at leat 99.9%) correct & 'guests' have posted 'correction' comments that are absolutely and unequivocally wrong, or just some low ratings with no explanation why (such as a comment, either constructive, or 'destructive'). Maybe you could have it so that a comment is required every time you make a rating so that every time you rate someone elses songs their website ID is shown they're less likely to maliciously rate someone elses songs low.

Also, is there any way to have all my songs list in alphabetical order when I go to my 'Member Studio'. I have 60 songs now, and when I go to my member studio I have to hunt diligently and arduously for a particular song I may be seeking to add too or modify. The 'Member Studio' does not list songs in alphabetical order.

i kinda like it how you have songs in order of votes in the member studio, its lets me quickly check which of my songs have been rated, which are good tabs, which need more work...ect..

maybe have it so you can arrange the list by the thing of your choice. eg; arrange by name, votes, views, ect....

And another thing... Mine don't come up in any sensible order... whether it be by rating, date submitted or modified, or anything. I know it sounds like I'm bitchin' (maybe so)... and I don't mean to be... Admin does an excellent job with this site, but ya'll did ask for suggestions.

For the organization part of the member studio... I'm not too sure if they changed it since I last read it, but the tabs are either organized alphabetically (by author) when you click on the icon of the user in the tab section. If you want to make sense of the member studio listings, its by highest rated tabs, the amount of votes that tab has and finally by the least amount of views a tab has (which is strange imo).

And, umm, yea, I made a post/rant about the rating system you can get with the link Belliza provided suggesting possibly have some sort of algorithm determining the highest rated tabs, post your ideas on that so we can have one section/thread per topic.

But the comment idea is not feasible. Since the current voting and ranking system is based on numbers making it easy to average, sort, and display. Adding on comments would create a subjective system of ranking, which all in all is actually a good idea, but ultimately hard to sort, organize, and keep track of all the data in an automated way.

But being able to sort by clicking on the headings of author, votes, or views to change from ascending order to descending order is not a bad idea at all =)
