Meet Swamp Pop and Joe BarryIf you've never heard of swamp pop or the likes of Joe Barry, you're not alone.
NPR's Ed Ward aims to change that, with a music review of the mostly unknown pioneer of a music described as a combination of "French-language country music and Fats Domino", called swamp pop. Hailing from southern Louisiana, Joe Barry released on album under the name "'Roosevelt Jones,' a common pseudonym for a white artist trying to sell to black audiences."
