There's Gold In Them Thar TubesNew research from Sweden's University of Gothenburg provides new evidence that - despite recent technological innovations facilitating the sharing of music - "total incomes of music composers have increased significantly in the last 15 years".
The doctoral thesis from the university's School of Business, Economics and Law, claims that in 2011, composers' income from music streaming "increased by 70% from the year before...Today downloads are generating more income than CD sales," according to author Staffan Albinsson, a researcher in economic history.
