Musicians: How You Look Is More Important Than How You Sound Here's something pop music celebrities figured out a long time ago: how good a musical performance is rated has more to do with what we see than what we hear. Say what? You heard us, it's true, at least according to recent research from University College London. The study's participants were able to more accurately guess who won music competitions by simply watching the performances without any audio, demonstrating the visual bias in not only the participants, but the original judges as well. And experts were unable to do any better than novices at guessing who the winners were.
